'Free Dog' Race Raises Funds for Humane Society

Swan Lake, MT - The second annual 'Free Dog' 5K XC Ski Race held last Saturday in Swan Lake raised $155 for the NW Montana Humane Society in Kalispell. Race participants from Columbia Falls, Whitefish, Kalispell, West Glacier and Missoula enjoyed a sun-and fun-filled afternoon with their dogs racing for a good cause - a no-kill animal shelter to be constructed in Kalispell.

Winners were Ian Bailey and Barney of Whitefish and John Weyhrich and Cinnamon of Missoula. Race organizers, Laughing Horse Lodge and Swan Lake Nordic Club, hosted the skiers and their canine racing partners to chili and dog biscuits after the event.
