Gold Creek Nordic Area

PLEASE NOTE: the access to the ski trails is by parking on Gold Creek Road (a public road crossing private land) and skiing 1.6 miles up FS2112 (Mineral Peak Road), which also crosses private land. Please stay on the road until reaching the trailhead, and respect all landowners! Thanks, MNSC

Description:

Gold Creek Nordic Area is a collaboration between The Nature Conservancy/Montana Checkerboard LLC and Missoula Nordic Ski Club. The trails are in a location that has some of the best terrain and snow available for Nordic Skiing within a 35 minute drive of Missoula.

The trails at Gold Creek are unstaffed, remote, and often not covered by cell service. Be safe and use at your own risk.

Location:
Drive approximately 15 miles east of Missoula along Highway 200 to Gold Creek Road (the road is NOT marked at all coming from Missoula - it’s just past Twin Creeks Road - if you get to Johnsrud you went too far) then drive 3.5 miles up Gold Creek road to a flat bench at the intersection with Mineral Peak Road/FS 2112 where you can park along the side of the road. Then ski 1.6 miles up Mineral Peak Road/FS 2112 to the trailhead.
